Alice Alexander

  (1941-2006)
Alice Alexander, was born in Brooklyn, New York, to a family of modest means. She dedicated her life to helping others without regard of ethnic origin, race or religion. Alice Alexander was an amazing woman not only did she raise her own children, but she was also a foster mother to so many children from New York to South Carolina, our house was affectionately known as Camp Alexander. Alice volunteered at soup kitchens, Meals on Wheels, fed the homeless, visited the sick, transported the elderly as well as anyone in need to do daily errands and doctors appointments. The holidays (Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthdays) were especially dear to her heart when it came to the children.  She sponsored the less fortunate families for Christmas by supplying Christmas trees, food and gifts. Alice would sponsor children who did not have the initial registration fee, that wanted to play sports at the Kershaw County Recreaction Department. Alice also, supplied food and clothes to the community. Alice assisted those who were seeking employment with the skills and confidence to secure jobs to promote self efficiency.  Alice hobbies were collecting porcelain elephants and teaching crocheting classes at Kershaw County Vocational Rehabilitation Center. This was all made possible with the Love and support of her husband of 44 years, Rev. Roosevelt Alexander, Sr., the sole provider that made all of her endeavors possible.

For the past eighteen years Dr. Alexander has been dedicated to assisting communities by capturing resources to assist residents in paying essential bills, volunteering at soup kitchens, feeding the homeless, providing transportation to medical facilities for doctors appointments, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, visit nursing homes, supplying various food drives, and purchasing back to school supplies. Like his mother before him, to make the holidays special for families with children has been and will always be close to his heart. Dr. Alexander, along with his father Rev. Alexander, adopt families during the holiday season, sometimes being secret Santa to the community. Dr. Alexander, traveled to New Orleans to assist in the clean up of the devastation left behind by Hurricane Katrina where he rolled up his sleeves and put in the time and work.
